The Lorenz Attractor Exists

We prove that the Lorenz equations support a strange attractor, as conjectured by Ed-ward Lorenz in 1963. We also prove that the attractor is robust, i.e., it persists under small perturbations of the coeecients in the underlying diierential equations. The proof is based on a combination of normal form theory and rigorous numerical computations.

Chen's Attractor Exists

By applying the undetermined coefficient method, this paper finds homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits in the Chen system. It analytically demonstrates that the Chen system has one heteroclinic orbit of Ši’lnikov type that connects two nontrivial singular points. The Ši’lnikov criterion guarantees that the Chen system has Smale horseshoes and the horseshoe chaos. In addition, there also exists on...

Why Life Exists?

The human body is a constant flux of thousands of chemical/biological interactions and processes connecting molecules, cells, organs, and fluids, throughout the brain, body, and nervous system. Up until recently it was thought that all these interactions operated in a linear sequence, passing on information much like a runner passing the baton to the next runner. However, the latest findings in...

Frustration Still Exists

ing methods, we still experience frustrating situations for patients and even for doctors. Accordingly studies should be continued. Although the efficacies of the drugs and of the administration methods are the key points, practical points, such as the planned timetable and schedules, could be obstacles to bowel cleansing. In short, frustration still exists in bowel preparation. A tailored appr...

A-Scrambling Exists!

The nature of scrambling is a focus of recent debate in the syntactic literature. The term scrambling is used to describe apparently optional permutations of word order, found especially in languages with extensive case-marking. Saito (1989) argues that scrambling is A-bar movement (like wh-movement), rather than A-movement (like movement to the subject position). Webelhuth (1989) argues for sc...
